MEET THE FOUNDER
Miya Horsey
20+ years of doing the work. Lived experience that can't be learned in a classroom. A seat at tables that shape policy and real lives.
"This work is not just professional — it's personal."
The Work
I've spent over 20 years doing case management and supporting individuals and families who are navigating systems that weren't built with them in mind. My work is rooted in meeting people where they are, not where the system expects them to be.
Whether it's re-entry, mental health, or just trying to get life back on track, I understand the barriers because I've seen them. And I've lived them.
The Personal
As someone directly impacted by the justice system through my family, I know what it feels like to advocate, to push, and to be the voice when your loved one can't speak for themselves. That experience shaped not only who I am, but how I show up in this work, every single day.
The Platform
I've had the opportunity to speak on platforms connected to OJJDP, sharing insight on justice-involved youth and the real needs of families impacted by incarceration. I also serve on the State Advisory Group, where I bring both professional expertise and lived experience to the table, helping influence change, policy, and direction for youth and families across our communities.
This isn't a career pivot or a passion project. This is a calling built from 20+ years of showing up, speaking up, and refusing to let the system have the last word.
